Scrolled Lucet - Heart
Scrolled Lucet - Heart
A lucet is a tool used in the making of a braided cord, the size of which is determined by the material (yarn) used and the firmness of the cord stitches. The braided cord made with a lucet is essentially a two-stitch i-cord. The finished product is square, strong, and a little bit springy.
The Jeri Brock Woodworks lucet does not have a handle and is sized to fit comfortably in the hand. It's also small enough to stow in a small project bag, purse or jacket pocket. Each lucet comes with detailed instructions, including pictures, for getting started.
You may notice that I don’t run the finished cord through a dedicated hold and choose to use that space for scrolled patterns that may or may not be big enough to house the cord. Because the lucet nestles comfortably in a cupped palm, I find it easier to maintain control of the finished cord by holding it in between the two horns with my thumb and index finger rather than relying upon a dedicated hole.
